CAUTION ABOUT NIGHT DRIVING

If by any chance you drive via Kemmanagundi road in the night you cannot see the road ahead of you even for 10 feet, as the entire mountain is covered by dense fog & passing clouds in the months of June to January with freezing cold breeze associated with strong winds.

KALLATHIGIRI TEMPLE : Visit 1000 years old Kalhattigiri Shiva temple, before driving up hill to kemmanagundi, this temple is 7 kilo meters from the Bird's home stay with a small water fall for devote to bathe.

SHANTHI FALLS : As you drive up to reach Raja bhavan at  Kemmanagundi Hill Station, you can watch for the sign reading way to shanthi falls & z point, your car can go up to Shanthi  falls, from there you have to climb 1.5 kilometers to reach z point from where you can view sun setting after 6 pm, the panoramic view from this peak is a unforgettable experience as nature has embraced you.

Z.POINT: SUN   after seeing Shanthi falls one goes to “z” point, if you are there by 6 pm you can view the most magnificent & spectacular sun setting, if you miss viewing the sun setting from z point, you can view sun setting from Raja bhavan.

HORSE WAYS OF THE MAHARAJA : A 4 feet broad narrow way in the creek of the hill is called the Horse way , these horse ways can be found on all most all the mountains of kemmanagundi till you reach katlekhan ,starting  Doddagiganikhan, doopadkhan, Sanjignikhan,Thottal khan , Sampigekhan, Maskalmaradi, Lalbagh,keraikhan up to kathaleikhan group of estates , these roads were made for  Mysore Maharaja to ride on a horse back on all these horse paths to view the spectacular sun rise & sun set , to watch the natures beauty, the magnificent mountain range, you could see the panoramic splendor of this range as far as your eyes can see of the unending mountains, lush green jungle, view the natural beauty of the sprawling hill slopes, streams gurgling down, water falls, mineral water springs coming out of no where, captivating cascades, wild life grazing in a distant hill slope & captivating mist & clouds passing over you, we can arrange 3 days trip & you stay in the hills & dine in the hills with our guides.

HEBBE WATER FALLS :This visit from our home stay & back  will take 5 hours , the water fall jumps 250 feet down, it is 12 kilo meters from K.R. hill station in kemanagundi a must see spot, you need a 4 wheel drive jeep , 1.5 kilo meter you must be prepared to walk  to reach the falls from where the jeep stops.

Water cascades down in two stages to form the Dodda Hebbe (Big Falls) and Chikka Hebbe (Small Falls). The Hebbe Falls is quite a spectacular sight, If one wants to walk or trek 8 kilometers along with a local  guide on a very steep & narrow  jungle path from kemmanagundi to Hebbe  Falls that could be arranged the mountain is full of herbs, medicinal plants, medicinal bulbs under ground , tubers, minerals & fresh water springs coming out of the hill slopes, & flowing over the medicinal plants by enriching the water & any one taking bath or drinking this water gets cured of all ailments as per purana & legend.

Hanuman carried life saving sanjeveeni  from this hill to Ceylon now known as Sri Lanka, & any one bathing in this water will be cured of  skin ailments, this water fall  is a must see spot, in kemmanagundi  rental jeeps can be got for Rs.900/= to 1400/=depending on seasons.

BABABUDAN GIRI : Bababudangiri Range, 42 km from Kemmanagudi, to manikyadhara water falls in bababudan giri a pilgrim spot for Hindus and Muslims alike. The Range was named after the Muslim saint Baba Budan who lived here in the 17th century. The place of worship is a cave called Imam Dattatreya Peetha, Hindus also worship in dattatraya petta.

HONNAMMANA HALLA : This is about 25 kilometers from Kemmanagundi, main road on your way to Chikmagalur & flows across the main tar road, mostly visitors stop here for rest & have a wash, have their packed meals, fill water in their bottles.

MULLIANGIRI: Mulliangiri in chickmagalur district,Karnataka,is the highest peak in the western ghats it is included in the list of 25 ecological hot spots of the world, From the peak of this mountain you can watch the spectacular sun set after 6 pm, this enchanting into the Arabian sea, this breath taking mountain range with its  lush green vegetation & lush grass growing oazn the mountains looks like a well maintained natural lawn from a distance for many hundreds of acres or as long as your eyes can see on your 60 kilo meter drive in this range from Chikmagalur city  to my home stay, via Kemmanagundi road is a treat to your eyes, the spectacular scenery when you are standing on a high peak the clouds & mist sweep over you.
